According to the many nature lovers who visited the place, the SNT is one of the most beautiful places in India for the observation of wildlife. A tea in the veranda of the small house that sits in the heart of the corridor and silence are the only efforts necessary to admire the beauty of nature. Many visitors suggested the place could be transformed into a successful eco-resort. However, this was not meant to be. It was decided long time ago that no additional building would be added to the existing modest settings that were built in the sixties, then in the midst of wilderness. Mark Davidar also imposed an absolute respect for wildlife for years: no noise, no direct light, no barrier, no wandering. As the jungle receded around the place due to development, the SNT kept intact critical habitats. In this website, you will find information on the Sigur Nature Trust and you will also get insights on how to create a nature reserve. We would like to share our experience with nature lovers but also to dedicated eco-resort owners, estate owners, developers or simple gardeners who are genuinely interested in protecting biodiversity on their property, wherever they are. Human activities will probably cause the extinction of one million species in the next century. Preserving and managing the biodiversity of India by any means possible is a noble endeavor we want to encourage. Note: we are happy to share our pictures as long as they are not used for profit.
